Riser and Conduit Rehabilitation
Earthen Dams are common throughout the U.S. Oklahoma alone has over 2000. Many of these dams need some type of rehabilitation.
Earthen dams were built to control flooding in large watersheds. Most of them have a riser to control the depth of the lake and a
conduit through the dam to dispel overflow. Some of these structures are over 30 years old.
Many of the materials used as risers and conduit have deteriorated to a non-safe status, due to fertilizers, animal farming and high acid soils.
Buttress Loc® and Snap-Tite®
are a long term, quick and inexpensive solution for these problems.
No digging is required to install these products, so the functioning dam is left intact. Both Snap-Tite and Buttress-Loc are made of HDPE PE-3408 to withstand the high acid soils and fertilizers.
Buttress-Loc has a threaded watertight joint that connects short lengths of pipe, down to 30", so it can be installed in the riser to line both the conduit and the riser. Once the annular space has
been grouted, the conduit is as good as new or better.
New risers can be fabricated with trash guards and valve connections, and they can be bolted to your existing concrete base.
